There's excellent camping amid lush lakefront woods in Fontainebleau State Park. Staking a tent here makes for a cheap way of crashing just north of New Orleans if you don't mind dealing with the Causeway bridge every day. The real draw, though, are the cabins, raised homes that directly overlook the water and come with kitchen, air-conditioning and wi-fi.
