Guldara Homestay

Tajikistan

The owner of this lovely homestay in Shing is Mr Khodjamov Sarvar, the village chemist, bee-keeper and herbalist. His engineer son speaks some English and the family have been in the homestay business for more than a decade. A chic, recessed blue-lit ceiling is a surprise addition to the guest room. Clean loos are in the big shady garden.

A 5km-walk from the homestay in and around the Rudaki Gorge is recommended. Helpful sustainability advice about minimising the effect of tourism on the local culture and environment is displayed in English at the homestay. Children under 10 years stay and eat for free.
