Genex Hotel is one of the cheapest hotels in the city centre, but you get what you pay for – the pseudo-European atmosphere is tacky and the lux rooms are odd-looking, with two queen-size beds pushed into a triangular-shaped alcove. Standard rooms are poky and not well maintained, so expect wonky plumbing and missing toilet seats and light fixtures. Nevertheless it remains good value for UB.
The dim-lit karaoke bar in the basement is another red flag.
