Welcome to the inferno. Red lighting and colorful artwork of dancers engulfed in flames set the mood at this cabaret-style dance hall, where you still see some ficheras (women who dance with men) at work (M$20). Since the 1950s, Barba Azul has staged some of the city's best salsa, merengue and son (folk) acts (starting at about 10.30pm).
Check your bill carefully and call for a secure taxi when leaving. At the time of writing, Barba Azul was closed for legal hassles but should be open again by the time you read this, check ahead.
