After you stroll through New Gate into Jerusalem's Old City, it's hard to resist taking a peek inside the colourful ceramics workshop of Armenian brothers George and Dorin Sandrouni. Since setting up their atelier in 1983, they have been crafting traditional Armenian ceramic designs: pomegranate-shaped ornaments, decorative plates, and tiles patterned with fish, flowers and peace symbols.
Big, breakable souvenirs and backpacks don't mix, but Sandrouni also sells small ceramic spoons and trinkets.
