Set within an atmospheric building that has existed in one form or another since 1155, this family-run guesthouse near Damascus Gate feels threadbare. There are en-suite double and family rooms with slightly mildewed bathrooms, and ceiling fans may not be enough to keep you cool. But it's cheap, there's a rooftop with views, and you can tumble straight into the souq.
Note that wi-fi only works in the lobby, and alcohol is forbidden on the premises.
