Just off bustling Jaffa Rd, Dire is always a treat. Delicious vegetarian and meaty Ethiopian dishes are served on platters of injera (spongy teff-based bread). The best time to come is on Thursday or Friday evenings (the latter when much of West Jerusalem is closed for Shabbat), and there’s likely to be Ethiopian music, drinking and dancing.
The front door, painted in green, red and yellow, the colours of the Ethiopian flag, is always open, literally.
