An old-school backpacker ambience infuses the spottily maintained Jerusalem Hostel. Rooms might be plain, but the common areas are given a lift with antiques, old photos, Judaica and, in the cramped entrance vestibule, huge columns. There's a choice of en suite rooms and single-sex and mixed dorms, as well as a communal kitchen and a roof terrace with couches to chill on.
You can sleep on the roof in summer.
