Iglesia y ex-convento de San Agustín

La Laguna

This church went up in flames in 1964, lost its roof and is now out of bounds and in ruins, but you can peer through the gap in the wall at the somnolent skeletal remains and the plants busy reclaiming the abandoned stonework. The cloisters, filled with tropical plants and flowers, are open to the public and are probably the prettiest in town. The rooms surrounding the cloisters contain an art gallery of frequently changing local works.
