Burgoo Bistro

Vancouver

Burgoo, an incongruous rustic-chic shack with a huge exterior wall mural and Main's best summer patio, has a warm, woodsy interior that matches its international comfort-food approach. Check the seasonal specials, then dive into a tasty fall-back position of gumbo, butter chicken or irresistible beef bourguignon. End with a glass of BC-made mead.

This is also a great spot for weekend brunch (11am to 3pm); arrive early to beat the crowds and go for the barbecued pork skillet. And if you're traveling with the family, the kids' menu is a cut above dinosaur-shaped chicken bites. There are four additional Burgoo branches around the city.
