Olympic Village

Vancouver

Built as the home for 2800 athletes during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, this glassy waterfront development became the city's newest neighborhood once the sporting types went home. New shops, bars and restaurants – plus some cool public art – have made this an increasingly happening area. Worth a look on your seawall stroll.

Don't forget to photograph the area's two gigantic bird sculptures – preferably with the mountains behind them.
