Bairnsdale's oldest pub (established 1878) has undergone a refit by its hardworking owner-chef, Sekove, who with his family's help has transformed this into the town's best watering hole. Its $12.50 express lunches are served in the old drive-through bottle shop; things move indoors for classy bistro fare and $10 pints of Gippsland craft beer, poured in the outback-style front bar.
Local produce is a feature, with the likes of pale-ale beer-battered Lakes Entrance gummy shark, pan-fried basil gnocchi, and awesome burgers. Early-morning speciality coffees (from 6am) and bacon-and-egg rolls are also reasons to come by.
