Former Chiang Mai Women's Prison

Chiang Mai

The derelict premises of the old women's prison are a surprising landmark in the old city. The place was slated for demolition after the prison's closure in 2013, with plans to develop a commercial plaza, but that hasn't happened yet. The occasional traveller has been known to sneak into the complex to explore its creepy, abandoned chambers and street-art covered walls, though we aren't endorsing this.
