Unlike many cathedrals that impress through ostentation, this 18th-century number is striking for its elegant simplicity and fine balance of gold and wood. The pitched ceiling is polished mahogany, and figures of saints, teak crosses and original stained-glass windows adorn the walls. It was substantially remodeled in 1988 for the 25th anniversary of having been elevated to a cathedral.
