Hotel Morales

Guadalajara

The dimly lit, four-tiered colonial lobby with the stunning ceiling mural is a suitably impressive entrance to this excellent-value, central hotel. Brighter and equally brilliant is the 2nd-floor, blue-and-white-tiled, Andalucía-style courtyard. Other nooks hide fountains, bookshelves and even a rooftop pool, spa and gym. The 98 rooms are a good size, modern in style and some have Jacuzzis.

Choose one (try for room 122) facing into the courtyard in the older Virreinal section of the hotel.
