Camping les Bombes

Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne

Just 10 minutes' walk east of Lac Chambon's indigo waters is this efficiently run campground, with a choice of verdant tent sites and wooden chalets. Mini-golf, table tennis, a heated outdoor pool and acres of green space provide little incentive to leave the grounds, and there are regular activities for kids, from treasure hunts to singalongs.

Chalets are rented out on a weekly basis (from €420) but shorter stays are possible in low season (usually May, June and September).
