Antica

Top choice in Samarkand

A gorgeous garden courtyard shaded by pomegranate, persimmon and mulberry trees make this family home a joy to stay at. The new rooms around the garden are more spacious, but the original 19th-century courtyard and dining room are more atmospheric, boasting original hand-carved walnut-wood doors and painted alabaster walls. Room 9 is much sought after for its upper balcony.

The owners can tell you about the history of the family and the building and they also sell pricey but high-quality antique suzani. All in all, it's a great cultural experience.
