HighRoad Hostel

Washington, DC

HighRoad's Victorian row-house exterior belies its modern interior. The dorms come in various configurations, from four to 14 beds – some mixed, others gender-specific. There are private rooms too, a couple with en-suite bathrooms. All have stark white walls, gray metal bunks and black lockers. Nighthawks will groove on nearby 18th St's bounty.

There's a fancy (though small) community kitchen and common room with a fireplace, a chandelier and a jumbo, Netflix-wired TV.

Free movie nights, pasta dinners, outings to local bars and other group activities take place several times a week.
