Fish Market

Alexandria

This rambling, 400-seat Old Town landmark restaurant has been serving up Chesapeake-style seafood since 1976. Occupying a 19th-century warehouse at the corner of King and Union Sts, it’s known for its crab cakes, jambalaya, raw oysters, and 32-ounce 'schooners' of beer. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drop in for happy hour at the Anchor Bar. Best seat: the balcony, from which you can watch King St’s bustle. The bar is open until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 1am Friday and Saturday.
