Balsam Mountain

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This small highlands campground is considered by many to be the park’s most lovely, thanks to its privileged placement within an ‘island’ forest of red spruce and Fraser firs. Though the 46 campsites are somewhat small, the upside is that it discourages behemoth RVs from roosting (though RVs up to 30ft are allowed).

The campground is 8 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway via Heintooga Ridge Rd.
