Big Apple Inn

Mississippi

The Big Apple basically has two items on its menu: a hot sausage sandwich and a pig's ear sandwich. Both are small, served on soft rolls, and delicious. The interior is hot, cramped and dingy, and the neighborhood is fading fast, but this is a true Jackson original. Fourth-generation owner Geno Lee is beyond personable and makes all feel welcome.

Civil Rights activist Medgar Evers had an office upstairs.
