Hal & Mal's is an excellent midsize live music venue. The sight lines are great, it feels neither too crowded nor annoyingly expansive, bar service is quick and whoever is doing the booking is killing it, bringing in a range of acts that speak to Jackson's under-appreciated capacity for funkiness. There's a blues band on Monday nights ($5).
