Read House Hotel

Chattanooga

This historic hotel – open continuously since 1872 – is fresh off a $25-million revamp, and it's looking swell. The two-story entranceway and other common areas easily evoke the roaring '20s: grand style with a sense of fun. Rooms are average-size but sharp, with bold colors and some lightly whimsical touches. And they say Room 311 is haunted.

Parking is $16 per night.
