Smokey Pig specializes in Monroe County barbecue, a south-central Kentucky style known for its hickory smoked, thinly sliced pork shoulder dipped in a fiery vinegar-and-pepper sauce. It’s awesome. Sweet vinegar slaw and bottles of beer help with the heat. If there’s a line, don’t worry: it moves fast.
The restaurant holds quite a few tables, including some that overlook the river. Don’t expect fancy dinnerware; everything is served in to-go containers.
