Hotel Havana

San Antonio

Texas design guru and hotelier Liz Lambert has turned her sights on revamping a few lucky properties such as this one, judiciously adding eclectic touches – a retro pink refrigerator, for example – to her clean, elegant designs. We'd love more electrical outlets and more lighting in the rooms, but the Texas goodies in the fridge? Thumbs up.

The bar-restaurant Ocho, set in a glassed-in conservatory overlooking the river, is a great spot for a happy-hour drink or a bite. Parking is $17 per night; pet fee is $25 per visit.
