The best place to stay to beat the heat (other than in the La Sals) is along the Colorado River on Hwy 128. Vegetation and the canyon walls provide shade at these 12 BLM campgrounds along a 28-mile stretch of the river. Each includes fire rings and vault toilets but not water. First-come, first-served.
