In French, domestique means 'servant'. In road cycling, it means competing for the benefit of the team leader. So it's fitting that Lance Armstrong's domestique, George Hincapie (also caught up the doping scandal, FYI), used this name for his mountain-view hotel in Travelers Rest. More European than South Carolinian, the place is inspired by Hincapie's travels and, ahem, devoted service.
The 13 well-appointed rooms all have fancy French names and the on-site Restaurant 17 offers multicourse meals, hand-pulled espressos and regional dishes sourced from local farms and fisherfolk. It's a popular place with the cycling set for its Canyon rental bikes and proximity to excellent rides.
