Gio Gelati

Top choice in The Marina, Fisherman’s Wharf & the Piers

Gelato chef Patrizia Pasqualetti was well-known in Italy for her family's gelato shop, and here in SF she's re-creating those tried-and-true flavors, only with local fruit, dairy and nuts. The results are pure creamy deliciousness, and favorites among the 30 flavors include sour cherry crunch and the Portuguese milk with caramelized figs.

The affogato (hot espresso poured over gelato) is nothing to sneeze at, either. Grab a couple of scoops in a gluten-free Italian cone, and take it for a stroll around Union St.
