Glacier’s quirky hostel requires a bit of legwork to get to and lacks the basic comforts of other park lodges (electricity is limited), but in many ways that’s the appeal. There are 13 fairly cramped dorm spaces, a couple of one-of-a-kind cabins, some tipis and camping trailers on-site. Vintage homesteads at the Square Peg Ranch up the road are also available.
Facilities include wi-fi (well, for around an hour a day), a fully equipped kitchen with a propane stove, hot showers and outhouse toilets. The whole vibe, or rather philosophy, is appealingly countercultural and will have you questioning urbanity and modernity by the time you leave.
