The monks had it good when this was still a Catholic monastery: spacious rooms, high ceilings, a fireplace in the parlor. Breakfast, with its pastries and cold cuts, is reminiscent of a European hostel. It's on the North Side, in the historic-but-scruffy Deutschtown area. The tiny Monk's Bar just off the lobby is open 5pm to 11pm daily – perfect for an evening tipple.
