It was the first house in the town to have gas lighting, indoor plumbing and a telephone. Today, the six guest rooms are plush, but a little chintzy, all have private bathrooms, some have hot tubs. Have a light dinner – the breakfast is good and hearty.
It's a quintessential Beaufort experience, sleeping in this classic wooden property with its big Victorian porches. This site has always played a big part in the local community. In 1866 this was the location of the Franklin Masonic Lodge; it's also been used as a Sunday school, a teahouse and a doctor’s office.
