Matchbox Cafe

Top choice in Hudson Valley

Located just a few minutes outside of Rhinebeck, this cafe serves diner favorites made with fresh, local ingredients. The menu is pretty simple, but everything from the burgers made with grass-fed local beef to the freshly baked mac 'n' cheese is made to perfection. One of the specialties is a house-made veggie burger.

Save room for dessert – the homemade pastries and cakes are terrific. The owners, who you're likely to meet if you go in, used to run a bakery in Manhattan.
