'Tips,' as locals call it, is one of New Orleans’ great musical icons. The legendary Uptown nightclub, which takes its name from Professor Longhair’s 1953 hit single, is the site of some of the city’s most memorable shows, particularly when big names such as Dr John come home to perform. Outstanding music from local talent packs 'em in year-round.
This is one of the few non–French Quarter nightspots regularly drawing tourists. The joint really jumps in the weeks prior to Mardi Gras and during Jazz Fest.
