Recompence Shore Campground

Top choice in Midcoast Maine

Adjacent to the Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, this fabulous, family oriented, 626-acre campground has waterfront and wooded sites spread over a working saltwater farm. The farm is part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and outdoor recreation; it's open for the public to check out the animals and walk the trails.

In season you can hire kayaks and bikes, sign up your kids for activities and buy farm-fresh products. Another accomodations option is 'comfort camping' in a huge, canvas bell tent equipped with mattresses, stoves and a bit of an ocean view. Recompence is located 4.2 miles from downtown Freeport.
