Hotel Brexton

Baltimore

This redbrick 19th-century landmark has recently been reborn as an appealing, if not overly lavish, hotel. Rooms offer a mix of wood floors or carpeting, comfy mattresses, mirrored armoires and framed art prints on the walls. Curious historical footnote: Wallis Simpson, the woman for whom Britain's King Edward VIII abdicated the throne, lived in this building as a young girl.

It's in a good location, just a short walk to the heart of Mt Vernon. There are six free spots for parking, first-come, first-served, plus four guaranteed spots for an extra $25 per night. Otherwise, check the website for details about using Parking Panda. Continental breakfast included. Pets are $50 per night per pet.
