This is the place to stop on your way upriver for smoky pork goodness. LaPlace, located about 30 miles west of New Orleans, is known for its fantastic sausages, and Wayne Jacob’s smokes up some of the best. Po’boys, red beans and rice, and Cajun comfort food fill out the menu, and portions are generous.
Whatever you choose, make sure to include an order of the smoky chicken and andouille (smoked pork sausage) Gumbo. It’s some of the best we had in southern Louisiana. An amazing array of sausages are for sale in the store out the back.
