Cardinal Spirits

Top choice in Indiana

Bloomington's only craft distillery makes fantastic spirits with local botanicals, but their equally interesting, seasonally changing food menu is one of the town's most innovative. Chef Dean Wirkerman sowed his culinary oats in Japan and Italy, and his menu is designed to instill feelings as well as flavors. Think porchetta benedicts for brunch, maitake mushroom and fontina cheeseburgers for dinner.

Of course, they do create delicious craft cocktails with their spirits ($7 to $12; the Terra Botanical Gin is a knockout!) and you'll want to walk with a bottle, too (their retro-inspired, merit badge-evoking labels are hard to turn away from). It's right on the B-Line Trail.
