Pioneer Saloon

Waikiki

The crowds are proof: people love Pioneer Saloon's Japanese-fusion plate lunches, with dozens of choices from grilled ahi to fried baby octopus to yakisoba (fried noodles). The fried chicken with garlic sauce and the grilled miso salmon are tops. Look for the potted plants outside; loads of whimsical nonsense decor inside. Don't miss the shave ice.

Note: the 'saloon' in the name is a ruse, there's no booze, but there is a tiny side yard with umbrella-shaded seats.
