‘Hoyo’ means mother in Somali, and the brothers who run this restaurant use mom’s recipes for their traditional dishes. Staples include chicken suqaar (cubed chicken tossed with spicy vegetables) and goat or lamb braised in spices, with sides of rice, curried cabbage and cardamom-laced chai tea. On weekends there’s a lunch buffet ($15).
Hoyo’s is located in a far-flung strip mall, though it also has a small stall in North Market downtown.
