Quiet and genteel Bay Hill feels like a time warp; as though you're walking into a TV set or your grandmother's photo album. It is reassuringly calm and simple. Handsome rooms are spread among a series of two-story buildings bordering the Arnold Palmer–designed golf course. Internet deals are frequent.
Though the lodge seems to attract an older, golfing clientele, and there is nothing trendy or fancy about its pool or amenities, families will find Bay Hill's comforting cocoonlike atmosphere a welcoming oasis after a day tackling Orlando. Theme parks and restaurants are an easy drive.
Set in a residential golf community and sporting only a small sign, Bay Hill is difficult to find. Head west from Apopka Vineland Rd on Bay Hill Blvd and look for it after 1 mile, on the right. There is no daily parking fee or resort fee.
