Palms Hotel

Miami

The Palms' lobby manages to be imposing and comfortable all at once; the soaring ceiling, cooled by giant, slow-spinning rattan fans, makes for a colonial-villa-on-convention-center-steroids vibe. Upstairs the rooms are perfectly fine, though a touch on the masculine side with tobacco-brown hues and orange-and-brown carpeting. Thoughtful touches include comfy high-end mattresses, iPod docking stations, in-room coffeemakers and Aveda bath products.
