Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley

This lively little theater runs plenty of musicals, including a fair number of shows (Pippin, The Wizard of Oz, and The Little Mermaid, for example) that are family friendly. On that note, the Playhouse also runs a few youth productions every year. Shows are performed at the Julia Morgan Theater.

The theater is a beautifully understated, redwood-paneled 1910 structure. The space, formerly a church, was created by Bay Area architect Julia Morgan. She designed several landmark Bay Area buildings and, most famously, Hearst Castle on the Central Coast.
