Two miles past Supai (10 miles from Hualapai Hilltop), the campground stretches 0.75 miles along Havasu Creek between Havasu and Mooney Falls. There are several composting toilets, drinking water and a limited number of picnic tables. Although the campground accommodates 350 people per night, not all campsites are designated, and you should expect a somewhat crowded experience.
Like any backpacking trip, you must pack in all your supplies and pack out all your trash. Fires are not permitted but gas stoves are allowed.
Getting a permit to camp is the main and maddeningly near-impossible thing. Online reservations for the year begin on February 1 at 8am (AZ time) and sell out the same day (no phone calls). Make sure to preregister in January. All reservations must be for three nights, even if you only plan on staying for one or two. The entrance fee is included in the campground price.
