Threads & Tailors

Dubai

This top-notch tailor has made bespoke suits for distinguished clients such as Roger Federer and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, along with men's and women's clothes. Expect to pay around Dhs950 (plus fabric) for a bespoke suit with a fused jacket (Dhs2400 for a canvassed jacket). Allow seven to 10 days, including a couple of fittings, although express service is available.

Tailors can also copy an existing garment you bring in or custom-make clothes from a photograph, magazine clipping or even a hand-drawn design. There's a good selection of fabric for men, although women will need to buy fabric elsewhere or from the store a couple of doors down. Prices are a bit higher than the tailors in Satwa or Bur Dubai, but the workmanship is tops. Opposite Lulu Hypermarket.
