Bur Dubai

Rather than rest on its laurels, Dubai's oldest high-end mall (open since 1992) just keeps reinventing itself. A recent remodel added some 200 shops (including luxury brands like Dior and Versace), a vast Carrefour supermarket and a 14-screen multiplex cinema. The upstairs food court, Pavilion Gardens, is an attractively designed, fountain-anchored space lidded by a soaring glass ceiling.

The Magic Planet play area should keep the tots content, while the teens can head for the more exhilarating 12D rides.
