Lebanese Village Restaurant

Bur Dubai

Look beyond the sun-bleached photos of dishes: the menu may have few surprises but does staples like grills, hummus and tabbouleh (salad of tomatoes, parsley, onions and bulgur) dependably well. The best seats are under a shady umbrella on the pavement terrace (more appealing than the bright diner-style interior). Also handy for a takeaway if you're staying in a nearby hotel apartment.

It's just to the north of the Al Fahidi metro.
