Öz The Fisherman

Black Sea Coast

Above the lapping waves, dine on the catch of the day – typically small Black Sea fish like mezgit, lightly fried in corn 'breadcrumbs'. There's no written menu but staff speak English and the tempting choice of meze dishes is laid out for you to serve yourself (per dish ₺13).

While some are more fashion-conscious, Öz has the best sea view of a row of waterside restaurants, accessed across the minibus park from central Rize. It's popular with local business folk and serves wine, rakı and beer (from ₺20). The tea is free but the service charge adds 10%. There's a good coffeeshop next door, also with sea views.
