Salonika

Kalkan

With tables on the lane and exposed stone walls inside, this white building with blue trim calls itself a meyhane (tavern), but the atmosphere is romantic rather than ribald. Occasional live music accompanies the mezes, salads, pides, Turkish casseroles (₺59 to ₺92), grills and fish.

Salonika is the Turkish name for Thessaloniki in present-day Greece, where Atatürk was born in 1881.
