Kümpir & Waffle Stands

The Bosphorus Suburbs

The pedestrianised street running inland from Ortaköy Mosque is crowded with stands selling kümpir (stuffed baked potato) and sweet-smelling waffles. Respectively bulging with savoury fillings such as sucuk (spicy veal sausage) and cheese, and loaded with sweet toppings like strawberries and chocolate spread, either makes a perfect mid-afternoon snack. There are benches near the water's edge where you can sit and eat.
