Nazar Börek

Göreme

Rafik and family have converted their family home on the edge of Güvercinlik Valley, surrounded by fairy chimneys, into one of the town's most scenic places to dine. Come for excellent-value meals of gözleme (stuffed flatbreads), grilled meat mains, the speciality sosyete böregi (stuffed spiral pastries served with yoghurt and tomato sauce) and a daily-changing traditional-village-food set menu.

Vegetables come straight from the family's garden out front, the terrace views stretch all the way to Erciyes Dağı (Mt Erciyes), and multilingual Rafik dishes up plentiful local information and hiking advice as well as your meal.

To find it, take the first left-hand turn on Adnan Kahveci Caddesi and follow the cobbled lane into the valley (about 800m from the centre of town). Rafik will pick up guests from town if you ring him beforehand.
